Somos El Son professional team

Somos El Son is a locally and nationally recognized Salsa dance organization from Seattle Washington.   Combining the talents of Israel Chavez, Kyoko Chavez, Victor Chavez and Julia Krasnov, Somos El Son represents Seattle in Salsa Congresses everywhere.  As a non-profit organization, Somos El Son is committed to introducing and bringing the joy of Salsa Dance to our community, as well as spread enthusiasm and interest for Salsa as far and wide as it can reach. 

Somos El Son was created in Seattle, WA in 1998 by the Chavez brothers, known in the salsa world for their incredibly fast and technical shines as well as innovative choreographies.  Co-Directors Israel and Victor Chavez were born and raised in Mexico City and have been dancing salsa since early childhood.  Their dancing developed in the “streets” of Mexico, and the Chavez style is known for its raw essence.  They strive to bring their innate passion for Salsa to our local community and actively continue to expand their influence into the Seattle Salsa Scene.

 
Ay Que Rico Son semi-pro team

Ay Que Rico Son is our semi-pro level performance team, instructed and directed by Israel and Kyoko Chavez.  Ay Que Rico Son premiered in 2007 for the Seattle Salsa Congress.  Since then, they have continued to perform locally, and have performed at the San Francisco Congress 2008, 2009, 2010, Seattle Salsa Congress 2008, 2009, 2010, and LA Salsa Congress 2009.  We continue to expect great things from this maturing group of dancers! 

Join a Performance Team

We are NOW looking for new members to join our performance team, Ay Que Rico Son.  NEW YEAR, NEW BEGINNING, NEW DREAMS, NEW OPPORTUNITIES!  Ay Que Rico Son is now going into it's 5th year!  AQRS is a very special group of dancers that have A LOT of fun together, good positive energy and tons of heart!  We are planning some new and different concepts this year that we are very excited about for this group. If you think you may be interested in joining in on our AQRS adventures, please contact us immediately!  We are beginning our 1st practice of the year this Sunday, should you want to observe a practice and get your questions answered!

 With some hard work and persistence, anyone, including you, can become a star on stage! Joining a performance team is the number one best way to take your salsa dancing to the next level.  It gives you the advantages of a private lesson in a group setting, while at the same time, preparing you to perform on stage! We want to give anyone who has the passion and heart, a chance to live their dream! We look forward to hearing from you!  info@myseattlesalsa.com
