Classes are taught by Israel & Kyoko Chavez who are known for giving easy to follow, personalized, step by step detailed instruction in their classes.  Classes focus on proper technique and timing, lead and following principles, and of course, styling.  Please see our class description page for additional information. 

Israel has taught salsa for over 10 years in Bellingham, Everett, Seattle, Bellevue, and Kirkland. Israel puts his passion for salsa into each dance step, whether it’s on the dance floor or in the classroom.  He is the co-director, choreographer, and dancer for the internationally recognized, professional dance team, Somos El Son. 

Israel was born and raised in Mexico City and has been dancing salsa since early childhood.  His dancing developed in the “streets” of Mexico, and Israel’s style is known for its natural character, playfulness, and fast footwork.  

Kyoko has been teaching with Israel and dancing with Somos El Son Dance Company for the past 5 years.  She loves to teach ladies styling and ensures that in classes, the “ladies part” is broken down in detail.  

Israel and Kyoko are also the director/choreographers for the semi-pro team, Ay Que Rico Son.
